I've always been impressed by history, whether it be a Scandinavian castle that I was walking through, or the 19 year old girl I met at a Halloween party. They all have a story to tell and it's the story that evokes emotions in us and connects us to the memory. So if I were to attempt to express the voice of my wine passion in a blog, I think that I would try to write about the history that enhances each swirl and sip coming from my glass. Reading about what someone else is tasting is “ok”, but if I were to read about the story of the vine, the vineyard, the barrel, and the winemaker that all came together to make that wine, I think I'd want to go out and find a bottle to experience the history on my own taste buds!
I'm excited to attend the WBC this year because it's in the first place that I ever appreciated wine. I moved to Portland the year after I graduated from college and fell in love with the Willamette Valley wine experience. I didn't end up staying in Portland for long, but I have carried my wine enthusiasm with me ever since. This wine country gifted me with the start of my wine journey in 1997, and I have a little hunch that there may be the opportunity for me to start another new beginning on this visit.
